| Will POWERkits work with Windows Service Pack 3 (SP3)? |
 | Yes, as long as you have SP2 installed first.
However, there is an issue with the installer and it only happens when you have SP3 installed and did NOT have SP2 installed when you installed SP3.
This can happen if people make their own Windows XP Service Pack 3 Bootable CD via SlipStreaming.
We have found a work around for this.
Here is what you can do:
"You go to Start -> Run and enter regedit.
Then open the registry and then you as follows.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Windows
Find the entry CSDVersion and double click on it.
Change the entry of 300 to 200
Reboot
Install the drum library software.
Reboot

That's it!

| I own Kontakt which reads GIGA format, are these available as in GIGA format so i could use them within Kontakt without the GVI? |
 | No. |
| Do you use any sort of copy protection? |
 | We do not use a dongle.
However, we use our own tracking system which embeds your user data into the files when you download them from our site.
It is a proprietary method that we created in-house and puts this data inside the audio stream in places where it does not interrupt the normal sound of the audio but can be retrieved by us at a later date. |
| Are your POWERkits Windows Vista compatible? |
 | As far as we are aware of, yes.
However, we do not run Vista here. In our experience, XP is much better to use as an audio operating system for high quality audio. |
| Will POWERkits work with Windows Service Pack 1 (SP1)?
|
 | No, they will not.
ALL of Larry Seyer Digital Products REQUIRE Service Pack 2 (SP2) or greater in order to work.
|
| Are POWERkits the same drum kits from the "Larry Seyer Acoustic Drums" library? Or are there newer different kits? |
 | Some of them are the same drum kits... some of them are completely new.
The basic difference between POWERkits and the original drum library is that POWERkits do NOT require GigaStudio NOR do they require GVI... they are a stand alone Virtual Instrument that needs nothing but a computer and a sound card.
Also, POWERkits have the convolution embedded into the samples so this means that latency and processing power requirements are both lower.
It also means that you cannot edit the rooms that the drums are in... If you must have the ability to edit the room sounds, you would need the 'Signature Series' drums... which will have slightly more latency and a much higher processor requirement.
|
| Do I have to buy the POWERkits in numerical order? |
 | No, you don't have to buy them in order.
Start with any Volume, and add additional Volumes in any order that you like... Volumes 1 through 3 are being released first. Other Volumes will be released within a few weeks of these.
|
| I'm using the Sibelius 4 notation sequencer, and I want to realize scores with GigaStudio 3 and POWERkits. Is this possible? |
 | POWERkits works in stand alone mode and it works inside of a DAW... One or the other, but not both at the same time. I'm not sure if Sibelius will host VST or RTAS plugins... but if it does, then that should work just fine. |
| Can I edit or remove the room colors from POWERkits? |
 | Since POWERkits are rendered versions of the original library, you would not be able to change the convolution. In fact, there is NO convolution in any of our POWER series of plugins. All convolution is embedded into the samples. They are designed for people who are looking for the best sounds but don't want to run a dedicated computer in order to get them.
We have a new series of libraries coming out called our Signature Series that is essentially the original Larry Seyer Acoustic Drums library in a plugin form. This new Virtual Instrument does not have the convolution rendered into the samples and comes with GigaPulse room colors that are editable by the end user. |
| Will you be offering download-able versions of your products? |
 | Some yes, some no.
POWERkits-DL are available right now as single and multiple drum kits.
To order several POWERkits at a discount, we recommend using our discount coupons.
POWERbass Upright is available right now as a download here.
And our Signature Series will be available online very soon.
|
| Will these function like LSAD in all ways, i.e Will it be possible to pan individual toms? Will the hihats open close still be assigned to midi CC? |
 | Yes, the panning is the same as it is in the original Larry Seyer Acoustic Drums library.
And yes, all key, note, and controller assignments are exactly the same also. |
| I am from Poland. Where can I buy your Power Kits Voume 1? |
 | POWERkits will be sold outside of the US through the following Distributors:
- Best Service Europe
- Time & Space UK
- TASCAM Canada
- TASCAM Mexico
- TASCAM Japan
|
| When can we hear demos from the other Volumes? |
 | We are working on demos for Volume 3 right now. POWERkits Volume 1 and 2 MP3 demos are available right now.
We're doing all new demos for POWERkits in order to demonstrate just exactly how the libraries sound. |
| Do POWERkits have the option to have the buzz from the snare in the kick and toms? |
 | Not as they are shipped... but it is possible to add it in later via programming.
As a professional mixing engineer with many years of experience, bleed from the snare (buzz) that happens when the kick and toms are hit is something that most other engineers and myself have been fighting to get rid of for years.
It's a selling point to say that 'buzz' happens when you hit the kick or toms when using a drum library.
But it's not a sonic improvement. It's a step backwards!
Listen to the demos... The drums sound great as they're shipped.
But if you really really must have it, you can add it in later.
|
| Is there any chance of a crossgrade from the Larry Seyer Acoustic Drums library to POWERkits? |
 | There will be offers made to customers who bought both the original Larry Seyer Acoustic Drums library and the Larry Seyer Upright Acoustic Bass library.
What those incentives will be at this point is uncertain.
Stay tuned... we're working things like this out each day. |
| Are the samples encoded in a proprietary format or available as WAV files? |
 | The samples are encoded in TASCAM's GVI 'Wrapped Virtual Instrument' format and are proprietary and are not available as stand alone .WAV or .AIFF files.
However, the Virtual Instrument works in all major DAWs and can be triggered via any MIDI device. |
| What sort of copy protection method is used with POWERkits? |
 | POWERkits uses a challenge response / serial number based protection method.
Each drum kit is encoded with the user's identification information in a proprietary process just before downloading.
|
| What will the player for the Mac version be based on? |
 | POWERkits for Mac (AU) is based on the same engine that the VST and RTAS version is based on... TASCAM's GVI 'Wrapped Virtual Instrument' engine.
This is true for both the Windows (VST and RTAS) version and the (soon to be released) Mac / AU version. |
| When will the Mac (AU) version of POWERkits be made available? |
 | The Mac (AU) version of POWERkits is expected to ship before the end of this year.
We are awaiting TASCAM's release of the Mac version in order for us to release our Mac version of our products. |
| Will it become possible to use the full Larry Seyer Acoustic Drum library on the Mac, rather than getting each individual POWERkit? |
 | Yes, but it won't be called Larry Seyer Acoustic Drums anymore and it will work as a stand alone VST, RTAS, and AU Virtual Instrument called "Larry Seyer Signature Series Drums" instead of being a library that requires GigaStudio.
The Larry Seyer Acoustic Drums library for GigaStudio is being discontinued and will no longer be made available once Signature Series Drums is released.

| Does the plug work as a 64-bits plug? |
 | Here is the answer from the TASCAM development team:
The plug is a 32-bit user-mode application, which means:
That it WILL run in XP 64, but as a 32-bit process.
So there you have it! |
